Hawaii Football State Championships Go Through Mililani, Literally: John Kauinana Stadium To Host Most Of The Tournament Games

—–

Mililani’s John Kauinana Stadium is the main site for the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships in November.

In Division I and II, first-round and semifinal games will be held at the home field of the higher seeds, with the championship game at Mililani. Those games could be on the neighbor islands or on Oahu, depending on where teams are seeded.

In the Open Division, all three games — the semifinals on Nov. 18 and the title game on Nov. 25 — will be at Mililani.

A year ago during the height of COVID-19, Farrington High hosted all of the state tournament games. From the inaugural year of the state tournament until 2019 (there was no 2020 season due to the pandemic), most semifinal and championship games were held at Aloha Stadium, a venue that will be torn down soon.
