Kaiser Routs Radford 52-17 And Heads To State D-II Tourney Vs. Kamehameha-Maui

Kamakana Mahiko caught eight passes for 153 yards and a touchdowns, and quarterback Easton Yoshino threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns to lead Kaiser to a 52-17 home victory over Radford in the OIA Division II championship game Friday night.

With the win, the Cougars (9-0) clinched a berth in the state D-II tournament and they’ll play on Wednesday against MIL D-II champion Kamehameha-Maui in the semifinals at Farrington’s Skippa Diaz Stadium. Kaiser is seeded second and Kamehameha-Maui is the third seed.

Kaiser made it into the state tournament by rolling over Radford.

On Friday night after the Cougars’ victory to wrap up the only state spot (of 12) still available, the HHSAA announced that Kapaa (6-0) is the No. 1 seed in the D-II state bracket, and that the KIF champion Warriors would play fourth-seeded Big Island D-II champion Hawaii Preparatory Academy (7-0), also on Wednesday at Farrington’s field.

Radford’s Jack Carlson had four catches for 71 yards and teammate Roch Schaefer had five catches for 67 yards, including a touchdown catch on a pass from Kalob Victorino-Avilla.

The Rams finished their season 6-3.
