Listen To OIA Broadcasts On Hawaii Sports Radio Network, Including Kahuku At Moanalua Football On Friday

—–

The newest sports radio channel in Hawaii added to its ever-growing footprint this fall.

Starting with this football and girls volleyball season, Hawaii Sports Radio Network has been and will continue to broadcast Oahu Interscholastic Association sporting events throughout the 2022-23 school year.

HSRN’s call letters are KGU and can be found at 760-AM and FM-95.1.

And for those who don’t already know, in addition to the station’s local broadcasts of OIA sports and Hawaii Pacific University sports, listeners can tune in to hear the station’s national programming. HSRN is an affiliate of the Dallas Cowboys, USC Trojans football, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Clippers, SportsMap Radio Network and Vegas Sports Information Network.

HSRN’s affiliation with VSIN is a valuable resource for people who want to keep up to date with the latest odds in the ever-growing world of sports betting.

Kuulei Agbayani, a 10-year veteran of sports radio in Hawaii, is HSRN’s operations manager, and Alan Miya is the program director.

“The OIA holds a special place in our hearts at HSRN because both the station owner (Roosevelt) and myself (Mililani) graduated from public schools here on O’ahu,” said Agbayani, who hosts the “Wake Up In the Den” morning show most weekdays at 8 a.m.. “Spectrum does an amazing job with TV coverage, but we wanted to be able to provide an additional way to showcase our student-athletes.”

In the multi-year agreement, HSRN plans to broadcast 36 or more OIA events each school year. They have already done a handful, including Kaimuki vs. Pearl City football, Mililani vs. Leilehua football, and Aiea vs. Leilehua girls volleyball.

On Friday, you can listen to Kahuku at Moanalua football at 7:30 p.m., as shown in the graphic below.

Kyle Galdeira, who has extensive experience in Hawaii sports media as a broadcaster and a writer, is the play-by-play man for football this fall. Scott Robbs, another veteran sports broadcaster, does volleyball play-by-play.

Others joining in those broadcasts as color analysts, depending on the sport, include Chaz Mihara, Darnell Arceneaux, Darrick Branch and RJ Hollis.

For updates on when to listen to OIA sports radio broadcasts by HSRN, go to HawaiiSportsRadio.com, where you can find other Hawaii sports content. You can find the station’s informative Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages as well.

“The two things we’re prioritizing with our broadcasts are featuring girls and boys equally and balanced coverage of each school that fields varsity teams in football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball,” Agbayani said. “Alan Miya and I might even do a soccer game or two. If we’re able to secure more sponsorships, we’ll be able to cover even more than the 36 games.”

Aside from Wake Up the Den, another morning show on the station is Sharks Weekly, which is about HPU sports and hosted by former Honolulu Star-Advertiser entertainment reporter Jason Genegabus.

Editor’s note: Many listeners are not aware of the relatively new Hawaii Sports Radio Network. Check it out, and then when you are selecting your preset buttons in your car or truck, don’t forget to set it up for 760-AM and FM-95.1 and place it next to the other stations you listen to. You never know when you’re going to need your sports fix.
