Quick 2023-24 Girls Wrestling Lookahead: 8 State Champs Expected To Return

For Hawaii high school wrestling fans who enjoyed the 2022-23 season and are looking forward to the 2023-24 season, below is a guide to the top girls competitors expected to be back on the mat.

Kahuku’s Maia Esera will be going for a third state title and seven others will be trying for a repeat state championship.

Moanalua’s Nohilani Kukonu (right) is one of eight state champions expected back next year. Campbell’s Bethany Chargualaf (left), who is a two-time state runner-up, is also expected to be back.

In the near future, Bedrock Sports Hawaii will run a Hawaii boys wrestling quick lookahead to next season.

If you do one for the boys could you also do a team breakdown for next season(returning placers and other studs) I think next year will be really interesting for the team race.     • Thank you for your awesome words of encouragement!! Team races will likely get better and better as the sport grows. Imagine if all schools had all weight classes filled? It’s not impossible. Not sure if we’ll be doing a team breakdown, but it is a good idea. Aloha.
