Saint Louis Back At No. 1; Moanalua Enters Bedrock Sports Hawaii’s Top 10

There were three significant changes this week in the Bedrock Sports Hawaii Football Top 10.

First, Saint Louis regained its No. 1 ranking after a thorough dismantling of then-No. 1 Kamehameha 41-7 on Friday night.

Another significant movement: Punahou dropped out of the Top 10. In a “what have you done lately” world, the Buffanblu’s 1-4 mark — even though all of their games were against the iron of the state — doesn’t cut it.

Arguments can abound. Wouldn’t Punahou beat many of the other teams in the Top 10, you ask? The answer is “probably” but what matters is what’s done on the field as the whole state heads toward the state tournament. The Buffanblu were eliminated two weekends ago. Therefore, they are not one of the Top 10 teams competing now for a spot in the late December/early January state tournament.

The third big thing this week: Moanalua, after three straight victories to open the season under head coach and former Mililani assistant Vince Nihipali, enters the list at No. 10.
