Said Tagovailoa, a former star QB at Kapolei and the brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, to the stadium audience: “I have a special message. … He means a lot to me and the hard work that he put in from where he was to where he’s at now, I couldn’t be more proud of him. And, you know, he’s like another brother to me. I’d like to say to Challen, congratulations on being on scholarship now, my brother. I love you my boy. Yes sir!”

The booth announcer took over from there on a TV broadcast while the camera shot went from a play on the field that just ended to a group of Maryland players, including Faamatau, in the stands.

“Take a look at the reaction of the Terp players to the young man who just got word in front of this crowd that he’s now a scholarship player,” the booth announcer said.

There was mega rejoicing and Faamatau was floored by the nice surprise.
