Kamehameha kept its No. 1 ranking in the Bedrock Sports Hawaii Football Top 10 on Monday after its second win of the season over Saint Louis, 34-31 last Friday.
The Warriors (3-1) have proved they belong at the tippity top by winning three straight after a season-opening loss to Punahou.
But there are two (and maybe three) very, very, very big Interscholastic League of Honolulu Open Division games remaining before the league decides the champion that will go on to play in the state tournament in late December and early January.
The first of those games comes this Friday, when No. 5 Punahou (1-3) and No. 2 Saint Louis (2-2 ILH) meet in the first round. The winner of that game plays Kamehameha the following week. As the No. 1 seed, the Warriors will not be eliminated if they lose that game in two weeks. Whatever team survives this Friday’s opener must beat Kamehameha twice for the title and advance to states. If Kamehameha winds up beating whoever advances in two weeks, the league title is theirs.
But you can’t count out either the Buffanblu or the Crusaders. Neither team is about to go down without a major fight, especially Saint Louis, which has its four-year reign as Open state champions on the line.
With convincing season-opening wins, Mililani and Kahuku both passed Punahou into the Nos. 3 and 4 spots. The Trojans dropped Waianae 49-6, and Kahuku rolled over Kapolei 42-7.
Two teams, Kapaa (1-0) and Roosevelt (0-0), are on the outside looking in.

Pay attention to Kahuku this year because if there offence has anykind of a passing game which will balance there running game they will be hard to stop there defence will alway be strong enough to bend an not break there special teams are alway underrated which makes them dangerous and add too the fact they lost there 2 best players to the main land
I totally agree. Kahuku is ALWAYS really good. My guess is Sterling is saving his best running backs for when he really needs them. It certainly helps to have a passing attack.
