PART VI (9:22 p.m.)
Quick updates: It’s final on the Big Island — Konawaena kicked a field goal in overtime to upset No. 10 Hilo 24-21.
The Wildcats, formerly a D-II state power, have been coming on strong in the BIIF’s Division I for several years.
Hilo has a lot on the line this season. The Vikings have been to the last three D-I start championship games, having won in 2017 and 2019.
Also:
>> No. 4 Mililani has taken a 13-0 lead over Kapolei.
>> Keoki Stephens kicked a 26-yard field in the fourth quarter to give Aiea a 25-22 lead over Moanalua.
—–
PART V (9:15 p.m.)
It’s final: No. 2 Saint Louis 35, No. 5 Punahou 0. Crusaders rolled up 463 yards in offense.
There are three games that look like they’re going to go down to the very end:
>> Hilo 21, Konawanea 21 (in overtime now)
>> Aiea 22, Moanalua 22 (in the third quarter)
>> No. 4, Mililani 7, Kapolei 0 (in the third quarter)
We’ll get you these final scores as soon as we can.
At Moanalua, Na Alii came back into the 22-22 tie, thanks to Geronimo Ulgaran‘s 20-yard interception return for a TD.

Part III (8:46 p.m.)
Ola Apduhan scores on a 2-yard run to make it: No. 2 Saint Louis 35, No. 5 Punahou 0 in the third quarter.
It’s a running clock.
It’s highly likely the Crusaders will hold on and move on to the ILH championship round against Kamehameha next Friday.
In the ILH, the top seed can only be eliminated by two playoff losses. If Kamehameha wins next week, it will be the league champion and top seed in the Open state tournament. If Saint Louis wins next week, it will need to beat Kamehameha again the following week to become champions and move to states to defend their four Open (2016 through 2019) championships in a row.
Saint Louis QB AJ Bianco is out of the game now, having gone 18-for-18. Two of his TD throws went to Mason Muaau.

Part II (8:23 p.m.)
Okay, it’s halftime at Aloha Stadium and No. 2 Saint Louis has a 28-0 lead on No. 5 Punahou.
Late in first half before its final possession, the Buffanblu had just 11 yards of offense.
Also, Saint Louis QB AJ Bianco, who recently committed to the University of Hawaii, completed all 14 of his first 14 passes, and he has two rushing TDs to go along with two passing TDs.
Some updates elsewhere:
>> Waipahu 18, Kailua 2, halftime
>> Moanalua 22, Aiea 14, halftime
>> No. 4 Mililani 7, Kapolei 0, second quarter
>> No. 10 Hilo 21, Konawaena 14, fourth quarter
>> Kalani 13, Kaimuki 3, second quarter
>> No. 9 Lahainaluna 24, Maui 0, halftime
The four-time defending Division II state champion Lunas are off to a fast start in their season-opener. They are classified into Division I this season.

Part I (7:36 p.m.)
All right, all right, all right. That’s Matthew McConaughey’s big saying and it’s also a good way for us to start off another weekend in Hawaii high school football action.
We’ve got some games underway and one final score.
The ILH Open playoffs have begun, and No. 2 Saint Louis holds a 7-0 lead over No. 5 Punahou. It’s in the second quarter.
Quarterback AJ Bianco has the touchdown for the Crusaders, an 11-yard run.
If you want to listen to that game, go to 1500-AM. Here’s the link: https://onlineradiobox.com/us/nbcsportsradio1500am/. It’s Mark Veneri and David Hallums on the call.
The one final score is: Saint Louis II 33, Kamehameha II 19. That’s the final game of the season for both teams. The Crusaders (basically a JV team) finished with a sterling 4-1 record in their first foray into ILH Diviison II.
