In the most significant game in state circles, Waianae won a defensive showdown against Kapolei, 12-3, to clinch a spot in the OIA Open Division playoffs. Kahuku, Mililani and Campbell had previously sewed up a spot in the semifinals to be held Dec. 3 and 4.
In addition, Konawaena went on the road to dispatch Kealakehe 42-13 and clinch the BIIF regular-season title. The league moves on to its semifinals next Friday, with Keaau visiting Konawaena, and Kealakehe traveling to Wong Stadium to face Hilo.
DuringWaianae’s win, Kelsun Feleti led the defensive effort with three tackles for loss, including a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Keoni Alani paced Konawaena’s victory, throwing four touchdown passes.
