Kamehameha’s Tatum Moku is at it again.
On Saturday, Moku soared over the bar with a pole vault of 13 feet, 2 inches at the Kamehameha Invitational. That height is believed to be the best ever done by a female athlete raised in Hawaii.
Sure, that was plenty good to win the event, but it was also one inch better than the 13-1 she accomplished while setting the Island Movers/HHSAA State Track and Field Championships record a year ago.
Moku, who also did a 13-0 vault earlier this season, will continue trying to better the 13-2 mark as track and field moves on toward the league and state championships.
And there’s more.
Moku continues to shine in two other events — the long jump and the 100 hurdles.
In the long jump on Saturday, Moku overtook the best Hawaii mark so far this season with a 17-8. That’s 1.75 inches more than the previous season high of 17-6.25 by Roosevelt’s Tiana Burgess, but still four inches short of Moku’s long jump state championship winning mark of 18-0 in 2022.
In the 100 hurdles going into the Kamehameha Invitational, Moku recorded a 14.64 to take 24 hundredths of a second off of her previous Hawaii best of 14.88.
Moku is headed to Washington State to compete in college next season.
