Hawaii’s JJ Mandaquit is having quite a month of June.
A point guard, the Hilo boy played for Team USA in its title run in the FIBA U16 Americas Championship in Merida, Mexico.

Also this month, the Division I college offers have been adding up for Mandaquit. LSU, Utah, Utah State and Virginia Commonwealth all extended offers to his list that already included Stanford, Washington State, Hawaii and Portland.
According to Matt Whitfield at Zagsblog.com, UCLA and Gonzaga are also showing an interest in recruiting Mandaquit: Under the Radar Recruit JJ Mandaquit Has Some Big-Name Schools Like UCLA, Gonzaga Watching.

The 5-foot, 11-inch Mandaquit played his freshman year of high school for ‘Iolani and is now at Real Salt Lake Academy in Utah, heading into his junior year. That school is officially changing its name to Utah Prep in August.
For Real Salt Lake Academy as a sophomore in 2022-23, Mandaquit averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.9 steals per game, according to On3.com. As a freshman at ‘Iolani in 2021-22, he averaged 15.9 points and helped the Raiders get to the state Division I semifinals.
En route to the FIBA championship, Mandaquit averaged 15.1 minutes, 3.7 points, 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds.
in 2000, Jason Mandaquit — JJ’s father — was the Hawaii player of the year, leading Hilo to the state championship.
