The Maui Interscholastic League has revised its football schedule, according to the Maui News, and you can see that new schedule near the bottom of this post.
Due to the severe hardships caused by the Lahaina fires, the MIL needed to adjust matchups and dates after many early season (mostly nonleague) games were canceled.
And it was difficult for the MIL to do the revisions, leading to an unbalanced schedule. For instance, Maui High will play nine games, Baldwin eight, King Kekaulike and Kamehameha-Maui seven, and Lahainaliuna five.
The Lunas won’t have a game until Sept. 30 — against Baldwin at War Memorial Stadium. The four other teams will be in action the weekends of Sept. 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16.
No. 8 Konawaena Coming To Oahu To Play Leilehua
The last time Konawaena visited Oahu, it turned out to be the school’s first Division I championship — a 38-28 victory over Waipahu at the Mililani High field to end the 2022 season.
The Wildcats (2-1), who are ranked No. 8 by ScoringLive.com, return to Central Oahu — this time at Leilehua High (2-1) to play the Mules on Saturday.
It could be a good one. Konawaena’s only loss was at home to national power Long Beach Poly, 60-28.
Leilehua has impressive wins over Kailua and Moanalua, with the only blemish a 48-7 loss to No. 4 Campbell.
You can bet many coaches with teams in Division I on Oahu will be at that game to gauge the strength of not only the defending state champions but also the Mules, who could be making a run this year.
One of the standouts in the state title game, wide receiver Zedekiah Anahu-Ambrosio, is back with the Wildcats. He had decided to transfer to Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas during the offseason, but he wound up staying on the Big Isle.

There are eight games with Hawaii teams facing mainland foes this weekend:

This year, Hawaii teams scheduled 23 games against teams from the mainland. Two involving Maui teams were canceled.

Kalani And Kaiser Rivalry Game Could Be A Good One
There’s an interesting matchup in Hawaii Kai on Saturday, with undefeated Kalani (3-0) at winless Kaiser (0-2).
The Falcons have OIA D-II wins over Waialua and McKinley and a 28-6 victory over Bonita Vista of Chula Vista, California, last weekend.
The Cougars’ two losses have been by a total of eight points — 17-13 to Division I Castle and 28-24 to Pearl City.
