Bedrock’s WEEK 2 Outstanding Player? Easy Answer Is Kahuku’s Mana Carvalho

—–

A dramatic game-changing play is often what Bedrock Sports looks for when picking its most outstanding football player of the week.

Not this time — due to one player’s complete performance in a rivalry game.

It’s Kahuku’s Mana Carvalho we’re talking about and if there was a better player than him last weekend, let us know.

As you’ve probably heard by now, he had five interceptions, including one in which he ran back 58 yards for a touchdown in the top-ranked Red Raiders’ 52-17 victory over No. 5 Saint Louis.

Making Carvalho’s job easier against the Crusaders? Well, it certainly doesn’t hurt to be playing next to all the others in Kahuku’s intense starting defensive lineup that also includes linemen Hyrum Moors and LeBron Williams, linebackers Max Fonoimoana, Chauncy Alo, Fale Atuaia and Zaden Mariteragi and four other defensive backs — Aiden Manutai, Kingsley Ah You, Terahiti Wolfe and Madden Soliai.

Kahuku (3-0), which won by forfeit over Aiea in a game originally scheduled for Saturday, will strike up an old rivalry with Farrington at the Govs’ home field on Sept. 31.

Then it’s two games against national powers — at No. 1 Mater Dei on Sept. 8 and at home against No. 2 St. John Bosco on Sept. 16.

You can see video and commentary from MaxPreps about Carvalho’s performance here.
