WEEK 13 of the Hawaii high school football season is halfway in the books.
In the marquee game Friday night, Kahuku won its 29th OIA championship with an Open Division 35-0 victory over Mililani at the Farrington High field: FOCUS ON FOOTBALL: Shaun Niu Grabs The Momentum, Madden Soliai Adds 3 Exclamation Points And Kahuku Clutches 29th OIA Title.
In another significant outing, Campbell (7-3) squeezed into the state tournament by edging Kapolei 49-42 n the OIA Open third place game at the Nanakuli High field.
Jaron Sagapolutele, as he has done all season, led the Sabes’ offense in the shootout win with 457 passing yards and four touchowns, including 146 and a TD to Rowen Bucao.
The Hurricanes (6-5) got a 307-yard, three TD passing performance from Tuli Tagovailoa-Amosa.
There are seven more league championship games on Saturday. The state tournament follows Nov. 11-12, Nov. 18-19 and Nov. 25-26.
