Coach: Top 2023 College Football Recruit Tausili Akana Enrolled At Skyridge As Of Now

In all likelihood, Tausili Akana is some day going to make Hawaii very proud with his college football exploits.

Right now, the junior outside linebacker/defensive end is the No 1. ranked Hawaii recruit from the Class of 2023.

But is he going to play his junior year in Hawaii? That question is unresolved.

During the 2020 pandemic season, Akana played for Wasatch High in Heber City, Utah.

And now? He’s listed on various rosters and recruiting sites as a member of four teams — Wasatch, Skyrdige (Lehi, Utah), Kamehameha and Kahuku.

Most sites list him playing for Kahuku.

BedrockSportsHawaii.com sent a message to Akana on Twitter to see if he will give an indication of where he will play his junior year in 2002. No return message as of now.

According to Kahuku coach Sterling Carvalho, Akana is enrolled at Skyridge.

“Until he enrolls at Kahuku, he’s considered a Falcon enrolled at Skyridge,” Carvalho texted Bedrock Sports.”

Carvalho added that Akana’s father, Kahuku basketball coach Brandyn Akana, told him that if Hawaii has a season, then Tausili will enroll and play at Kahuku.

So far, Hawaii’s five leagues are planning on a season and have started official summer conditioning. Later this month, official practice is slated to start, with official games planned for early August.

It should be pointed out, however, that all of this is tentative and it believed that final Department of Education and Department of Health approval awaits. And we all know, anything can happen in the COVID-19 era.

In addition, there has been no word on if fans will be able to attend games or not.

Akana, who is 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, is the brother of former Kamehameha standout girls volleyball players Braelyn and Keonilei Akana. He played his freshman season at Kamehameha and already has 28 Division I college offers.
