Seventh In An 8-Part Series

Nacnac Productionz was there to make a video highlight compilation of Konawaena’s 38-28 victory over Waipahu in the Division I title game of the the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships on Nov. 26.
You can watch that fantastic video below, but first here are some thoughts about the game from videographer Mike Nacnac, who played football for Pearl City went on to be a hybrid linebacker/defensive back at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California, and at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa:
“I had never watched Konawaena play before. My prediction was for Waipahu to come out with the win with the amount of weapons they have on offense and defense. However, Konawaena played their game. I’ve never seen a team run a no-huddle, quick tempo offense as successful as Konawaena. I even had a hard time capturing footage because of how fast the ball was being snapped play after play. I was also surprised to find out that a lot of the key players from Konawaena aren’t seniors. Number 7 (Zedekiah Anahu-Ambrosio), the WR, stood out to me the most. Waipahu could not stop him and he’s only a sophomore. Aside from the OIA D-I championship (Waipahu’s comeback from a 17-point deficit to beat Aiea 38-30), this HHSAA D-I state championship was the game of the year.”
