Results of the ILH track and field meet held last Saturday at Punahou and the Yamamoto Invitational this Thursday on Maui are in.
Konawaena’s Caiya Hanks, shown earlier this season, ran the 100-meter dash in 12.65 seconds in the preliminaries of the Yamamoto Invitational on Maui on Thursday. That’s the top Hawaii time in the girls 100 this season. (Image credit: West Hawaii Today).
And some of the numbers were very good. Eight athletes recorded the best times or distances in Hawaii so far in 2022.
From the ILH meet at Punahou, they are:
>> Saint Louis sophomore Bryson Pataray, 21.84 seconds in the boys 200-meter dash
>> Maryknoll freshman Malia-Rose Harvey, 26.34 in the girls 200
>> Kamehameha junior Tatum Moku, 16.24 in the girls 100 hurdles
From the Yamamoto Invitational at War Memorial Stadium on Maui, they are:
>> Baldwin junior Joseph Randolph, 10.77 in the boys 100
>> Baldwin senior Justin Kahalewai, 15.91 in the boys 110 hurdles
>> St. Anthony senior Trevor Tanaka, 12 feet, 7 inches in the boys pole vault
>> Konawaena senior Caiya Hanks, 12.65 in the girls 100
>> Seabury Hall’s Kaylee Volner, 10 minutes, 29.07 seconds in the girls 3,000
Boys Sprinters Are Approaching State Meet Record Times
Randolph’s 10.77, which set a new MIL record according to the Maui News, is not far from the state meet mark of 10.63 set by Damien’s Christian Padron in the 100.
In the 200, Pataray’s 21.84 is close to the 21.67 by Punahou’s Andrei Iosivas in 2018.
Distance runner Volner’s 10:29.97 is also an MIL record, according to the Maui News.
