Hawaii Prep Is No. 10 In Latest Bedrock Top 10; Lunas Rise All The Way To No. 6

One Big Island team is in this week’s Bedrock Sports Hawaii Top 10 for the first time this season. Another Big Island squad is out.

Hawaii Prep (7-0), the BIIF Division II champion, hopped in. Konawaena (6-1), the BIIF D-I champ, dropped out.

Ka Makani’s last game was a 3-0 win over Kamehameha-Hawaii in the league title game two weekends ago. They play KIF champion Kapaa (6-0) on Wednesday in the D-II semifinals of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships. Game time is 3 p.m. at Farrington’s Skippa Diaz Stadium.

In the other semifinal, OIA D-II champion Kaiser (9-0) and MIL D-II winner Kamehameha-Maui (4-2) go at it at 7 p.m.

Konawaena’s Wildcats are out of the Top 10 for the first time since early this season after a 30-7 loss to Lahainaluna (7-0) in the state D-I semifinals.

The fact that a D-II team got in and a D-I team fell out is proof that the question, “What have you done lately?” is applicable in most cases for this particular Top 10 list. And, it should also be stated that it’s not so much a list of who could beat who, but a list of who is doing best regardless of division.

In other movement this week, the Lunas passed ‘Iolani, moving from No. 8 to No. 6, with the Raiders (a 21-0 D-I semifinal winner over Aiea) staying at No. 7. Kapaa and Kaiser moved up one notch each to Nos. 8 and 9.
