Former Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel of the Oklahoma Sooners is on his way up the NCAA Division I FBS all-time passing yards and touchdown lists.
Gabriel, who is in his fifth college season including three with UCF, has thrown for 13,083 yards and 111 TDs.
Unofficially (and according to a list on Wikipedia) that puts him tied for 20th in yards and 18th in TDs.
So far this season, Gabriel has thrown for 1,878 yards and 16 TDs in six games for the 6-0 Sooners. If he doubles those numbers in the final six regular season games and possible College Football Playoff and/or a bowl game, he will easily break into the top 10 in both categories.
Oklahoma is ranked No. 6 in the AP Top 25. The Sooners were No. 5 a week ago after Gabriel’s dramatic late TD pass to Nic Anderson gave them a 34-30 victory over then-No. 3 Texas.
You can watch a YouTube video of that play below.
Also, Gabriel is third behind quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. of Washington and J.J. McCarthy of Michigan in BetMGM Heisman Trophy odds.
