HHSAA Confirms New Site For Wrestling State Tournament: BYUH’s Cannon Activities Center

There will be a new site for the Texaco/Hawaii High School Athletic Associ9ation Wrestling Championships in February.

Due to an inability to book two straight days at the usual site, the HHSAA worked with wrestling coordinators from the five leagues to find an alternative site.

And Natalie Iwamoto of the HHSAA confirmed today that they’ve found one.

The tournament will be held at Brigham Young Hawaii University’s Cannon Activities Center in Laie on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25.

The usual place — the Blaisdell Arena — was unavailable for two straight days.

At one point, the discussions led to Kamehameha’s Kekuhaupio Gym being the finals day site after one day at the Blaisdell. But it turned out that Kekuhaupio was only available for a half day and the finals need a full day.
