Kahuku Is No. 25 In SB Live/Sports Illustrated National Rankings

—–

Kahuku appeared in the SB Live/Sports Illustrated national football rankings for the first time this season Monday.

The Red Raiders, who topped Farrington 48-20 in Kalihi on Friday, are No. 25 on the list.

Also, Kahuku is one of two teams mentioned as “on the rise” (but not ranked) in the first USA Today Super 25 of the year that was released earlier this week.

New rankings will be out early next week.

In two other sets of rankings this week, Kahuku (now 4-0) is:

>> No. 50, up one place from a week ago, in the Football America 100.

>> No. 51 (no movement from last week) by MaxPreps.com.

Last year, the Red Raiders finished the season No. 25 by MaxPreps.

Many Hawaii fans — especially those who consider themselves “Red Raiders For Life” up on the North Shore — will be particularly interested in seeing how Kahuku, the No. 1 team in Hawaii, will fare at national No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) on Sept. 9 and then at home against national No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California) on Sept. 16.

Another team listed as “on the rise” in USA Today’s Super 25 is Mission Viejo of California, which will play visiting Kamehameha (No. 6 in Hawaii) on Sept. 29.
