Kalani’s Yuta Cole And Mililani’s Zola O’Donnell Run To OIA Cross Country Titles; Kalaheo Girls And Mililani Boys Take Team Crowns

Kalani’s Yuta Cole and Mililani’s Zola O’Donnell ran to victories at the OIA Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Cole covered the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes 46.08 seconds, ahead of second-place finisher Colin Shimabukuro of Moanalua (18:07.12).

Payton Mukkada’s third-place finish (18:16.11) led Mililani to the boys team title. Teammate Robby Navarro (fifth place, 18:34.74) and Luke Anderson (10th, 18:56.23) also finished in the top 10 to help give the Trojans the winning 42 points.

Radford (68) wound up in second, followed by Kalani (99) in third.

On the girls side, O’Donnell ran the 5,000 meters in 20:30.82 to top second-place Cameryn Lauro of Kalaheo (21:32.94) by more than a minute.

It was Lauro’s Mustangs squad that took top girls honors, however. Kalaheo’s Eve Cody (sixth 22.00.66) and Amelie Loomis (22:22.60) also cracked the top 10.

After Kalaheo (46 points) in the girls standings were Kalani (60) and Mililani (74).
