Mililani’s Rimando, Maui’s Cantere And Baldwin’s Randolph Excel In Hawaii’s Track And Field League Championship Weekend

Bedrock Sports Hawaii made it out to cover one of the four league championship track and field meets — the ILH — last weekend.

In the three other leagues’ title meets, some of the brightest stars were senior Elle Rimando of Mililani, senior Jared Cantere of Maui High, and junior Joseph Randolph from Baldwin.

Rimando won four events at the OIA Championships — the 100-meter dash (12.35 seconds), long jump (17 feet, 4.75 inches), triple jump (37-2) and the 4×100 relay (51.25) with Kiana Muratsuka, Camryn Kunihisa and Deiona Carter.

Cantere, who won the MIL cross country championship in the fall, took the gold at the MIL Track and Field Championships in the 400 (53.10), 800 (2:10.80), 1,500 (4;20.64) and 3,000 (10:06.53).

Randolph also earned four first-place finishes at the MIL Championships — the 100 (10.78), 200 (22.09), long jump (20-03) and the 4×100 relay (44.06) with Landon Ambrocio, Ian Kikushi and Brock Toma.

Five Athletes At OIA, MIL, BIIF Title Meets And KIF Last-Chance Meet Record Top Marks In 2022 So Far

In five individual or relay events at the OIA, MIL and BIIF title meets and the KIF last-chance meet last weekend, top Hawaii marks for 2022 were accomplished by:

>> Waiakea senior Kiyoshi Todd, 2:00.57 in the 800

>> Konawaena senior Caiya Hanks, a BIIF meet record 12.33 in the 100

>> Radford senior Angeludi Asaah, 39-11.50 in the shot put

>> Seabury Hall junior Ruby Kessler, 47.72 in the 300 hurdles

>> King Kekaulike freshman Ja’lyn Deichert, 24.6 (handheld) in the 200

In addition, the following athletes at the four meets last weekend also won multiple events:

>> Kapaa’s Jodi Woodward in the shot put (28-08) and discus (86-09)

>> Kapaa’s Kanoe Haneberg in the 100 hurdles (17.20) and long jump (15-07.50)

>> Note: On April 29, Kauai’s Ella Burgess ran a 5:15.08 to set a KIF Championships meet record in the 1,500

>> Konawaena junior Braxton Kimitete in the 300 hurdles (48.49) and the 4×100 relay (51.89) with Uhiwai Wall, Ila Henry and Caiya Hanks

>> Radford sophomore Amelia Stebe in the 400 (1:00.48) and the 4×400 relay (4:14.55) with Jasmine Freeman, Georjiena Torres and Annaise Jabour

Waiakea, Mililani, Kalani, King Kekaulike And Baldwin Win League Titles

Six teams won league titles last weekend — the Waiakea girls and boys in the BIIF, the Mililani girls and Kalani boys in the OIA, and the King Kekaulike girls and Baldwin boys in the MIL.

Previously in Hawaii, the Punahou boys and girls took ILH titles, and the Island School girls and Kapaa boys earned  KIF championships.

All individual and team qualifiers will compete at the Island Movers/HHSAA Track and Field State Championships at Kamehameha on Friday and Saturday.
