More Top Marks For Hawaii’s Track Athletes In 2023; Best 5 In Each Event Updated

—–

Six season-best times were recorded last weekend by Hawaii high school track and field athletes.

As previously reported by Bedrock Sports Hawaii in “Kamehameha’s Tatum Moku Soars To A 13-Feet, 2-Inch Pole Vault”, three of those were done by Tatum Moku — in the pole vault, 100 hurdles (14.64) and long jump (17-8) at the Kamehameha Invitational.

The other three new top 2023 marks, after their performances at the Kamehameha Invitational, belong to:

>> Kalani junior Yuta Cole, who ran the boys 800 meters in 1:58.40, taking .52 off his previous season best of 1:58.92.

>> The team of Noelle Lezy, Nala Stojadinovic, Kylie Moniz and Xevani Salanoa of Punahou that ran a 4:11.55 in the 4×400 relay — .27 better than the previous season best of 4:12.22 by the Buff ‘N Blue’s Sasha Iizuka-Sheeley, Dalen Lau, Lezy and Salanoa.

>> Hilo sophomore Kekaihulali Halpern, who ran a 2:19.89 in the girls 800 — 2.70 seconds faster than the season’s previous best of 2:22.59 by Punahou’s Iizuka-Sheeley.

Below are the updated season’s top marks for all 16 boys and 16 girls events. After that, you will find an updated Top 5 for every event.

Of note in this week’s Top 5 changes:

>> Halpern, Stojadinovic and Xevani Salanoa are now in the Top 5 of three different events

>> Punahou’s Kainoa Ronquilio and Laulea Ah Mook Sang and Kealakehe’s Levi Childers are now in the Top 5 of two events.

>> Newcomers to the Top 5 lists: Punahou’s Benjamin Brown, Kelsey Ann Sato and Lulu Uluave; ‘Iolani’s Keane Palmer; Kapaa’s Kela Velasco and Noah Burkhart; Farrington’s Jacob Maneafaiga; Baldwin’s Brock Toma; Konawaena’s Violet Schaut; Kalaheo’s Olivia Holmquist; Mililani’s Jaslene Rose Cayetano; and Campbell’s Serenity Lepaga-Telona.
