Nike Outdoor Nationals: Honolulu’s Malia Rose Harvey Places 10th In 400-Meter Dash

Honolulu’s Malia Rose Harvey ran to a 10th-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Nike Outdoor Nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, earlier this month.

Harvey competed in the freshman category, finishing in 1 minute, 1.81 seconds.

Harvey did not make the finals of the 100-meter dash, but wound up in 11th place in the preliminaries with her time of 13.04.

Running for Maryknoll at the state high school championships in May as a freshman, Harvey placed fifth in the 100 and 400 and seventh in the 200.

Another Hawaii girl, Deiona Carter of Ewa Beach, also ran at the Nike Outdoor Nationals.

Carter, who will be a sophomore for the Mililani Trojans next spring, finished 24th in the 200 preliminaries (26.68) and 39th in the 100 prelims (13.03.
