Randolph Continues to Shine; Moku’s 13-7 Pole Vault Is Unofficial; Hawaii Track And Field Update

—–

Baldwin’s Joseph Randolph continues to make serious Hawaii track and field waves.

And Kamehameha’s Scotty Dikilato made a big splash for the first time this season last weekend.

Randolph was already the state leader for 2023 in the 100- and 200-meter dashes going into the MIL meet No. 7 on Friday, and after that event, he is now the leader in the long jump by leaping 22 feet, 2.5 inches.

Dikilato, Bedrock’s top pound-for-pound wrestler during the winter who has only competed in three track and field meets so far, climbed the ladder in two events. At the ILH Meet No. 4 on Friday, he went from outside the state’s Top 5 all the way to No. 2 in the shot put (50-4.75) and discus (155-7).

Hawaii Baptist’s Shane Kawakami-Williams also made a dramatic rise, going all the way from outside the Top 5 to No. 1 in the 400 (49.26).

The only other event in which there is a new No. 1 this week is the 4×400 relay, with Punahou’s Kylie Moniz, Dalen Lau, Xevani Salanoa and Noelle Lezy running a 4:10.05 on Friday.

There were a bunch of other athletes jumping into the Top 5 of an event for the first time, including ‘Iolani’s Mia Shepard (200, 400), Kamehameha’s Trinity Talaipa (shot put), Baldwin’s Lee Weatherford (high jump), Saint Louis’ Josiah Fetui (long jump), Moanalua’s Gabriel Maramag-Ganigan (100), Kamehameha’s Saraya Burghardt (300 hurdles), and the Konawaena 4×100 relay team of Zedekiah Anahu-Ambrosio, Keoki Alani, Carmine Taetuna-Fautanu and Torrance Satta-Ellis.

All the No. 1’s so far in 2023 of each event are below and are followed by the Top 5 in each event.

Tatum Moku’s 13 feet, 7-inch pole vault is being validated

Kamehameha’s Tatum Moku, who owns the top pole vault mark by a Hawaii high school girls athlete with a 13-2, cleared the bar at 13-7 at the ILH Meet No. 4 at Punahou on Friday.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, that mark, however, was still being validated, according to Athletic.net.
