ROUNDUP: Hawaii High School Track And Field Athletes Post Top 2022 Marks In 11 Events Last Weekend

—–

The Hawaii high school track and field season is heading toward the stretch run and athletes continue to shine across the state.

Last week, 11 top times and distances were recorded (in the 32 events) so far in 2022 at five varsity track and field meets.

Some of last week’s top performers were Kapolei senior Jordan McQueen in the triple jump (see his mark below), who is creeping closer to the state-meet record (48, feet 1 inch) set by Campbell’s Larry Khan-Smith in 1986, and Konawaena senior Caiya Hanks, who now owns Hawaii’s 2022 best marks in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

On Kauai last Thursday and Friday, the KIF Championships were held at Vidinha Stadium.. Other league championships are coming up this week as follows: ILH (today and Friday), MIL (Thursday and Friday), OIA (Thursday and Saturday), and BIIF (Friday and Saturday).

The Island Movers/HHSAA Track and Field State Championships are May 13-14 at Kamehameha’s Kunuiakea Stadium.

Waimea’s Kendra Knapp, shown in the 300-meter hurdles lead during the KIF trials on Thursday, wound up winning the KIF title in that event on Friday. (Image credit: Kauai correspondent).

Listed below are the 11 new top Hawaii times or distances for 2022 set last weekend, multiple-event winners from the five meets, the full list of 32 top times or distances for 2022, and all 32 state-meet records for comparative purposes.
