Saint Louis’ Aiva Arquette And Kamehameha’s Beau Sylvester Picked For Area Code Games

Two Hawaii baseball players were picked for the annual Area Code Games in Southern California to be played Aug. 7-11 in San Diego

Shortstop Aiva Arquette, who helped the Saint Louis Crusaders to the ILH baseball title in the spring, and Kamehameha catcher Beau Sylvester will play for the Milwaukee Brewers-sponsored team in the Area Code Games next month.

The Brewers are one of eight regional teams that are being sponsored by MLB clubs. The other seven are the Oakland Athletics, Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox, and New York Yankees.

The rosters are made up of more than 220 of the best baseball players around the nation from the high school classes of 2022 and 2023, according to the Area Code Games website.

Arquette is committed to play for Cal Poly in college.

Sylvester is committed to play for Washington. Check out this video of him throwing out runners from behind the plate, especially the one at about the 13-second mark, when he releases the ball while on one knee and gets the guy who strayed too far off of second base. Almost even better is the umpire’s emphatic out call.

Scouts from all 30 MLB teams as well as top NCAA coaches will be in attendance.
