States Are Up Next For Maui Wrestlers; 15 Among A Sturdy MIL Group Win Second Straight League Title

—–

Maui has a reputation statewide as having some really powerful wrestling programs and individual wrestlers.

Far from the population center, these Valley Isle performers can sometimes be overlooked. That would not be a good idea for opponents this season to do, with the state tournament being held on Friday and Saturday at Brigham Young-Hawaii’s Cannon Activities Center.

Of the 28 champions crowned last Saturday at the MIL Championships at the Maui High gym, 15 won a title for the second year in a row.

They may be across the ocean from the majority of wrestlers in the state, but they are a formidable bunch.

Most of the repeat champs have made a name for themselves statewide, and there are four state champs in the bunch. Here they are followed by their state placing from a year ago, if applicable.
