Ten Hawaii Wrestlers Place At Women’s National Championships In Spokane

Ten Hawaii wrestlers placed in the top eight in their divisions at the Women’s National Wrestling Championships sponsored by the USMC at Spokane, Washington, last week.

Of the 10, eight competed in brackets and two went through a round-robin format.

Altogether, at least 17 Hawaii wrestlers participated.

AN INTERESTING SIDE NOTE: During the April 14-16 tournament, Hawaii’s 17 wrestlers matched up against opponents from 23 different states — Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
