Two Class of 2024 Punahou football players made their college commitments in recent days.

Offensive lineman Tui Muti is staying in the islands to join the University of Hawaii. Wide receiver Astin Hange chose Air Force.

As of Thursday, Muti’s tweet to announce his decision Monday night has been viewed 97,000 times. That is likely an indication of just how much it means to Hawaii fans when top recruits want to play for the Rainbow Warriors.

In similar fashion, since Sunday, when Nazaiah Caravallo — a Kamehameha edge rusher — tweeted about his commitment to UH, there have been 94,000 views.

Muti and Hange played major roles in the Buff ‘N Blue’s ILH Open championship season in 2022 in which they lost 20-0 to Kahuku in the Open state championship game. While the 6-foot-2, 290-pound Muti was solidifying the pass protection and opening holes for the Punahou running backs, Hange was making spectacular catches for big gains. Hange caught 65 passes for 1,064 yards with eight touchdowns in 11 games.

After making his commitment, Hange received an offer from Navy.
