WEEK 9 Update: Pearl City Wraps Up OIA D-II Regular-Season Title

Pearl City clinched the OIA Division II regular-season football title with a 34-27 home victory over Kaimuki on Friday night.

The Chargers (7-0 overall, 6-0 league) and three more teams from the eight-team OIA D-II will make the playoffs to fight for the overall championship and two spots at states.

Also, Kamehameha-Hawaii (9-0, 8-0) wrapped up the BIIF Division II regular-season title and a spot in the league championship game with a 49-0 home win over Pahoa.

In addition, Farrington topped Leilehua 40-9 to get a top playoff seed and a bye in OIA Division I’s A group.

Unofficially in the playoff picture:

>> Konawaena already has sewed up a spot in the BIIF D-I title game
>> Kapaa, as the only D-I team in the KIF, already has a state spot clinched
>> PAC-5, as the only eligible D-II team, already has a state spot secured

  • Teams should not get into the State tournament automatically no matter what they do on the field, Pac-5 and Kapaa. Not fair to all of the other schools fighting to make the tournament. At a minimum they should have to play someone from another league to get into States.

  • Thank you so much for listing all the teams in win loss order in the various leagues. Very hard to know which teams are part of which leagues. Especially when they keep changing year by year according to the previous year’s record.
