November was a record month for Bedrock Sports Hawaii readership, now that sports is nearly in full swing in Hawaii after COVID-19 wiped out most everything involving athletics in 2020 and the start of 2021.
“Starting a Hawaii sports news website when no sports are being played pretty much all over the world but especially in Hawaii is like starting a football team without a person who can pass the ball more than 10 feet,” Abramo said about the website’s May 5, 2020 birthdate that coincided with the early part of the pandemic spread.
But Abramo never had a problem sticking with the “running game.”
“Even though there were hardly any sports being played, there were plenty of sports stories to write about,” he continued before adding, “We took off with the elephant package and ran it right up the gut.”
Of the 10 most-read stories in November, 2021, nine are about football and five of those are about the surging Kahuku Red Raiders (6-0), who are No. 1 in the Bedrock Top 10, are OIA Open Division regular-season champions and play in the league semifinals Saturday against Waianae.
The one non-football story among the 10 is about the NHL expansion team, the Seattle Kraken.
