Jessie Christensen called it one of the “greatest moments” he’s ever witnessed.
And so it must be pretty great. Christensen is the director of football operations at St. John Bosco, so he’s seen a ton of unbelievable moments. The Braves from Bellflower, California, have been a national football power for years, winning national titles in 2013 and 2019.
This particular great moment for Christensen came last Saturday after St. John Bosco defeated Hawaii’s top team, Kahuku, 34-7 at the Panish Family Stadium.
He watched as the Kahuku players lined up on the sideline, singing the school’s alma mater with their famous “sea of red” fans.
Christensen tweeted, “What I witnessed tonight will never leave me. The beautiful people of Red Raider Nation left their full impact on Brave Nation. Wearing my Kahuku shirt tomorrow! Kahuku in 2023!”
That last line referred to St. John Bosco’s planned trip to Hawaii next fall to play at Kahuku.
The idea for that two-game deal was initiated in 2019, when then-Kahuku co-athletic director Wendy Anae met Braves coach Jason Negro at Turtle Bay Resort before a St. John Bosco practice session at the hotel in preparation for a game at Mililani.
What I witnessed tonight will never leave me. The beautiful people of Red Raider Nation left their full impact on Brave Nation. This may be one of the greatest moments for me at Panish Family Stadium. And there have been a lot. Wearing my Kahuku shirt tomorrow! Kahuku in 2023! pic.twitter.com/3X5lei86zj
