RECRUITING: Aiea Lineman Preston Taumua Gets Offered By ‘THE’ Ohio State University

—–

Aiea junior lineman Preston Taumua got a Big Ten offer and tweeted about it Wednesday.

But it’s not just any Big Ten offer. It’s from THE Ohio State University, and the Buckeyes are the No. 2 team in the Associated Press’ Top 25.

Here is that Tweet:

“Good kid, good player, and he’s getting very big,” Na Alii coach Wendell Say said. “He’s 6-5, 320 and he’s got all the tools. We saw that he was going to be a good one from a young age. He hurt his knee as a sophomore last year but has fully recovered. He’s very consistent. He has good values, a Mormon who loves the values the church teaches.”

Taumua previously had offers from Arizona, Oregon and Utah.

Oregon scouts will be at Aiea’s game at Farrington on Friday night (tonight), according to Say. And they’ll be there to watch Farrington lineman Iapani Laloulu, who has an offer from the Ducks and eight other Division I FBS colleges.

Say also anticipates a head-to-head battle Friday night (tonight) between Taumua and Laloulu.

“Poncho (Laloulu’s nickname) has been playing some defensive line, too,” the coach said.

“UCLA came to watch Preston at practice the other day and a lot of schools came in to see him during the spring,” Say added. “It’s one of those years that we have some good-sized kids.”

Among those Aiea “big” kids are Logan Rouse, a 6-6, 235-pound senior defensive lineman and his twin brother Max Rouse, who is a 6-4, 270-pound offensive lineman. Neither one has a D-I FBS offer.

“Logan has a lot of intangibles,” Say said. “He’s the kind of kid that can put on 50 more pounds and still be lean. He has long arms, a long wing span — a lot of things going for him. Maybe some coaches want to see him more developed (technique-wise), I don’t know. But those things will come. Both Logan and Max are already academic qualifiers with high grades and ACT and SAT scores.”

Trech Kekahuna And Gavin Hunter Add Offers

Former Saint Louis receiver Trech Kekahuna, who is a Wisconsin commit now playing for Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), added offers from Arizona State and Utah.

In addition, Mililani defensive back/receiver, an Arizona commit, added an offer from Utah.
