‘Iolani’s Lexi King And Kamehameha’s Tatum Moku Are Getting Up There

Readers, if you get a chance, check out the last part of this story from 2019: Hawaii’s Best In Track And Field In 2019 Just Got Better.

It was before the pandemic and two eighth-graders — ‘Iolani’s Lexi King and Damien’s Tatum Moku — were recording results that were better than high schoolers.

Back then, King was as high as 5 feet 2 in the high jump and Moku was as high as 11-3 in the pole vault.

Unfortunately, 2020 and 2021 came and went with no high school competition for those two — nor anyone else in Hawaii track and.field.

But both girls are back and are now juniors.

King high jumped a school record 5-4 at the Cal Track Ruby Tuesday meet and is going after the state meet record of 5-5 set by Kahuku’s Natasha Kai in 1999.

Moku, who transferred to Kamehameha, pole vaulted a personal best 12-6 at the Cal Track/Ruby Tuesday meet. She is four inches from the state meet mark of 13-0 set in 2013 by Baldwin’s Amber Kozaki.
