TRACK AND FIELD update: Hawaii Athletes Improve 2023 Best Marks In 12 Events

Times and distances improved in a big way last weekend in Hawaii high school track and field.

Of the 32 disciplines, 12 top marks for 2023 were bettered at various meets.

New top times or distances this season in the specific events are:

>> Baldwin’s Joseph Randolph, who ran a 10.70 seconds in the 100 to beat his previous best of 10.74. For comparative purposes, the state meet record is 10.53.

>> Kalani’s Yuta Cole, who ran a 4:01.35 in the 1,500 to outdo his previous best of 4:06.77. The state meet mark, for comparative purposes is 4:01.23.

>> Kalani’s Tyler Grune, who ran a 40,53 in the 300 hurdles to surpass the previous best of 40.90 by Moanalua’s Joshua Sanders.

>> Punahou’s 4×400 relay team of Noa Wong, Zachary White, Maximilian Even and Kainoa Ronqulio, who ran a 3:21.48 to beat the previous best of 3:25.70 by Saint Louis’ Casey Connell, William Reed, Jahren Altura and Michael Joshua Price.

>> Kamehameha’s Scotty Dikilato, who threw the discus 161-8 to get past Kahuku’s Stanley Raass’ previous best of 158-9.

>> Mililani’s Cal’von Baker added an inch to his previous 2023 season-best high jump, leaping 6-5.

>> Moanalua’s Joshua Sanders achieved a 22-5 long jump to surpass the previous best of 22-2.5 by Baldwin’s Randolph.

>> Konawaena’s Torrance Satta-Ellis went 43-7.5 in the triple jump to outdo the previous best of 43-3 by Kahuku’s Brock Fonoimoana.

>> Mililani’s Zola O’Donnell, who ran the 1,500 in 4:48.94 to better her previous 2023 season-best of 4:51.42.

>> Radford’s 4x40o relay team of Camryn Smith, Georjiena Torres, Amelia Stebe and Annaise Jabour, who ran a 4:06.81 to get past the previous best of 4:10.05 by Punahou’s Kylie Moniz, Dalen Lau, Xavani Salanoa and Noelle Lezy.

>> Roosevelt’s Tiana Burgess‘ 18-2 in the long jump surpassed the previous best of 17-8 by Kamehameha’s Tatum Moku.

>> Roosevelt’s Burgess’ 46.13 in the 300 hurdles got past the previous best of the 46.35 by Mid-Pacific’s Destiny Look.
