Hawaii High School eSports Doesn’t Miss A Beat During World Health Crisis

Not all sports were on hold due to the COVID-19 health crisis this spring.

The Hawaii High School Athletic Association’s eSports season was held this spring, thanks to competition held remotely.

Roosevelt’s EpicZero captured the League of Legends title with a victory in the tournament final over Moanalua’s Prestige. King Kekaulike’s Team Alpha placed first in the regular-season standings.

In Rocket League, Kamehameha-Maui’s KSM White took the championship in the playoff final over Maui High. The Kamehameha-Maui squad also won the regular-season title.

Competition was also held in SMITE, but no championship was held.

The eSports fall season preseason period begins Sept. 21, with the regular season starting Oct. 12.
